A PhD combines three facets:

• It is a diploma and a formation. For this part your main interlocutor is the ED STIC
• It is a scientific research activity. For this part you must comply with the rules of your host laboratory like any permanent researcher
• It is a contractual employment.For this part have a careful look at your employment contract, to know your rights and duties.

Do not confuse these three aspects, especially your employer is not your laboratory and both must appear on your publications (for instance you can be employed by UCA and perform your research at Inria).
ED STIC is your interlocutor for any difficulties during the three years of the thesis, do not hesitate.  Report as soon as a problem occurs, do not wait for the situation to get worse. Every year, the Doctoral School conducts many mediations with the partners of several thesis.
